RAÚL MIGUEL
ORCHESTRA DIRECTOR
Raúl Miguel is one of the most complete and versatile musicians in the musical panorama of our country.
Awarded with the 2nd prize of the London International Conducting Competition, organized by the London Classical Soloist Orchestra (2015). His training as a conductor has gone hand in hand with the prestigious conductor George Pehlivanian.
Outstanding trumpet player, student of Martín Baeza and José Maria Ortí, he has participated with a scholarship in the first Puebla Instrumenta meeting in Mexico, collaborating with the Festival Orchestra and with the brass ensemble German Brass. He has been first trumpet of several orchestras, among them: Joven Orquesta Sinfónica Fundación Coca-Cola and Orquestas de Cámara, Sinfónica y de Música Contemporánea del Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid, Filarmónica de Madrid and Orquesta Filarmonía de España.
As a trumpet player he has collaborated with Orchestras and Ensembles such as the Orquesta Nacional de España, Orquesta de cámara Reina Sofía, Orquesta Staatskapelle de Berlín, Deuscht Oper, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Filármonica Arturo Toscanini, Orquesta Sinfónica de Berlín, Proyecto Guerrero, Camara XXI, under the direction of maestros such as Daniel Barenboim, Zubin Mehta, Christian Thielemann, Marc Minosky, Rafael Fruebech de Burgos, George Pehlivanian, Eliau Inbal, etc.
He has made numerous collaborations with different artists, including the recording of “Historia del Soldado” by Igor Stravinsky with Paquito D’Rivera, with which they have been awarded a Latin Grammy for best classical music album.
He has worked and recorded with musicians such as Paquito D’Rivera, Jerry Gonzalez, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Maelo Ruiz, Tito Nieves, Tito Rojas, La India, Melendi, el Barrio, Rocio Jurado, the National Jazz Orchestra, the CMQ, Bob Sand Big Band, Bobby Martinez, Pepe Rivero Big Band, Gran Canaria Big Band, Miguel Blanco Big Band, La Afrodisian Big Band, etc.
He has conducted numerous ensembles, including London Classical Soloists, Ho Chi Min City Ballet and Oper Orchestra (Vietnam), Orquesta Sinfónica de la ESMUC, Orquesta de Extremadura, Orquesta de Tenerife, ADDA Simfónica, Orquesta Nacional de Cuba, Orquesta Nacional de Guatemala, Orquesta Sinfónica de UAEH, Joven Camerata del Salvador, Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de UAA-UAZ, Banda Sinfónica de Zacatecas (Mexico), Banda Sinfónica Complutense de Alcalá de Henares, Banda de Conciertos de San José (Costa Rica), Banda de conciertos de Heredia, European Soloists Orchestra, the Almansa Festival Orchestra, Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra (Russia), Orquesta de Camerata de Castilla la Mancha, as assistant conductor in the JONDE, JORCAM (Brass and Percussion Group).
He has conducted soloists of the stature of Reinhold Friedrich, Manuel Blanco, James Ackley, Aquiles Machado, Pilar Jurado, Eriko Takezawa, Marco García Vaquero, Sebastian Gil, Yturvides Vilchez, Rubén Simeo, Rafael Aguirre, Giovani Scarpeta, among others.
His concern for a humanistic education led him to pursue doctoral studies at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. With the highest grades and “CUM LAUDEN”.
He is currently director of MIT JAZZ (Mérida International Jazz Festival), Member of the Academy of Performing Arts of Spain and professor at the Estebán Sánchez Conservatory in Mérida.
